+ ive been to a whole bunch of zoos. i hate most of them. Brasilia's zoo isnt the worst ive been to, but it outta be shut down. Zoos should be a fence-free environment, but most of them arent. At least around here. The lions, the tiger and the pumas dont have much of a running area to play around, that and, Brasilia's population isnt the most educated one -- so it is common to see young boys screaming around, and sometimes even tossing popcorn and other crap on the animal [they always find a way to sneak and throw things when the zoo staff arent watching]. + The kangoroos seemed like the most depressed ones. The one i took a picture of, was stuck on the corner for over 6 minutes, and seemed scared as hell. Besides him, another kangoroo slept, but was frequently woken by screams, and then there was a mother kangoroo inside a concrete hole trying to protect her albine newborn baby, also pretty scared. Kangoroos shouldnt be allowed anywhere near Brasilia. Theyre to be kept safe in Australia. Untouched. + The llama, didnt seem unhappy. i wouldnt doubt, though, that it was only because there was rain on its way -- for, she still had a wool coat on, and we are in Brazil, land of the 40'C [120´F] summer. People or llamas shouldnt wear fur for sunbathing. + Someone put flamingos in a little cage with no space whatsoever for them to even beggin to think, on how to use their wings. Not to mention all the other caged birds, that with their reserved large size dont fit [duh] in any kind of cages. + Not all snakes have space. The tropical python doesnt fit inside her cage, and the corals were given less space than most golden fish are normally given around the globe. + Giraffes, elephants, kangoroos, lions, tigers, panthers, -- animals that are not natural to the Brazilian environment -- shouldnt be allowed inside the country by any means that not for ultimate case of preservation. Every now and then a giraffe falls dead for mysterious reasons, or a kangoroo doesnt eat and dies, or an elephant chokes on a plastic bag. Preservation is a forgotten word around this place. im not one of those greenpeace fellows who tries to save every dog they find on the streets, but i am unfortunate to know that the city is closing around on these animals. All the nasty show for US$ 1,00. * 1.6.2005 *

The wait for the unreplaceble jazz. + i dont care for brit pubs in my vacation. i care for the jazz. we waited but it didnt come. they played strokes instead -- which belittled the anger spirit that roams for jazz. my vacation [the first "real" one in college -- due to all the strikes that avoided the university's calendar to be fulfilled], cannot be resumed to books, even though they play a 90% roll in it. neither can it be summed up in jazz concerts or past noon sleeping. vacations are all about late night black and white movies being watched in "mute". + i dont care what the black & white caracters are saying. i just like to watch them -- those old actors -- when Hollywood was still a respectable place, where actors would commit suicide in high class hotels in the middle of the night. those were the great ol' days. When a gun was more often pointed at "self" than to others. And steady hands pulled the light triggers, or opened pill taps. |
